Brass Fixture Care Guide
Care guidance for unlacquered brass, polished nickel and antique copper fixtures.
Care should preserve the finish rather than force every fixture to look the same. Always follow the product-specific care guidance first. Test any new method on an inconspicuous area and avoid abrasive pads, harsh powders and aggressive chemical cleaners.
Routine cleaning
Use a soft cloth with clean water and, where appropriate, a mild non-abrasive cleaner. Rinse away residue and dry the surface to limit water spotting. Do not use rough scourers or products that can scratch or alter the finish.
Unlacquered brass care
Unlacquered brass is a living finish: variation and patina are part of its character. Avoid treating it as a uniform plated surface. Before using any polishing method, decide whether preserving the existing patina is the goal.
Polished nickel and antique copper care
Use gentle cleaning and drying practices. Avoid abrasive or acidic products unless the product-specific instructions explicitly permit them.
